How to Make a Woman Happy by Denis Hickey begins with a warning that consistent use of the ideas contained in this guide may inundate one with happy women! His ideas cover almost all aspects of male-female transactions, offering explanations and practical suggestions for each. Like his comment about women: ‘Women like a man who is fun, and fun is in the moment.’ In the moment, he further explains is when someone can put aside chores, phones, computers, responsibilities and thoughts of past and future. He offers many suggestions to achieve this, such as, ‘Make an extra effort to notice her,’ ‘Compliment a woman’s intelligence,’ ‘Make approving remarks about her looks,’ or ‘Become aware of her dress, her scent.’
How to Make a Woman Happy by Denis Hickey has step by step instructions on attracting women and how to continue that attraction. He adds practical measures to most of his suggestions: ‘Find out what is romantic to her and practice being romantic.’ He supplements the varied advisory notes with its practical adaptations – cheat sheets. Many of his suggestions I found to be of great use in human interactions, irrespective of the emotional sphere of its origin. For example: ‘Remember special occasions and be a good gift-giver,’ and ‘Listening is not giving advice,’ are like adages, always relevant. This book also has a special chapter on removing her roadblocks to happiness which, with the helpful lists and exercises, holds the potential to become the most effective remedy against domestic unhappiness. Easily adaptable to one's daily living, this book makes the whole gamut of pleasing the fairer sex into a manageable affair.
