Honor Roll by Kelly Collins is a gripping story that features very compelling characters, a story that rings so real readers will feel like they were part of it. It felt so good listening to it — and I must say that I am not the typical fan of audio books, but this one drew me in. From the very first line of the story, the reader knows that the protagonist, Luca Gregorio, is a tired man, a man in trouble. He works hard to pay off his student debt, has an old man who seems to get on his nerves, but he qualifies for the Dean’s List — which is another creative and mysterious factor brought into the plot. The conflict escalates when Luca meets the gorgeous and intelligent Mim Knight. Can he focus on his work at the Concierge Services while this beauty walks around? Does he have what it takes to win her heart and can he strike the balance that will allow him to pursue this woman while delivering great results at work?
One immediately gets the feeling that Honor Roll is a well-crafted story because the narrative voice comes across clearly and beautifully through the entire audio book. The reading is perfect, with clear and neutral accents that almost anyone can understand. The voice is measured and it pays attention to the tone, which allows the listener to easily get into the story. It was so absorbing I had to pause just to visit the comfort room and drink a cup of coffee. This audio book would be the perfect companion for a long and solitary ride. Kelly Collins has done a marvellous job with the writing, but the narrator's reading did great justice to it as well.
