Homo Cosmicus 2: Titan is a work of fiction in the science fiction, conceptual fiction, and mystery subgenres and serves as the sequel to Homo Cosmicus. It is suitable for the general reading audience and was penned by author Todor Bombov. The book follows the development of Titan as a hub of interplanetary development in the year 2069. As private corporations and NASA continue to invest manpower into harvesting what they can from Saturn’s moon, a series of deaths start to overshadow the operation. The mysterious nature of the deaths suggests that they aren’t mere accidents, but it’s up to protagonist Dr. Eddie Roberto to untangle the mystery.
I was in awe within a few chapters of this story. In awe of the scale of the vision of the solar system that the author had created, in awe of the complex world and society that had been created, and in awe of author Todor Bombov’s gift for bringing us into this foreign world without sacrificing the pacing of the story or the consideration of the key themes. The narrative that unfolds around the deaths of key mission members is a compelling and complex mystery that carefully unfolds at the perfect pace to allow readers time to digest and consider developments before twisting the tale once more to deepen the mystery. Overall, Homo Cosmicus 2 has a vivid idea of Earth's future and has constructed the perfect narrative angle to explore the social and political implications of this vision of mankind that lies just beyond the horizon.
