In His Last Hope: Chance (A Steamy Enemies to Lovers Contemporary Western Romance), foster kids Amber and Matt are split up by the system. They remain determined to be together, so they keep running away from their foster families. Sharla Wylde introduces Chance, a security consultant and wounded veteran with PTSD as well as a physical disability left over from an explosion in Afghanistan. Hope is the children's caseworker that has her own demons from a physical attack. Together Chance and Hope are determined to keep these kids safe from an outside threat dead set on silencing Matt for unwittingly witnessing a terrible crime. Fleeing to the Tanner family ranch for safety, can they overcome all their personal challenges to keep these two children safe?
In His Last Hope, Chance and Hope are both broken people after experiencing tragedy and trauma. They are drawn to each other but afraid to expose themselves emotionally. Chance takes Hope and the kids to his family ranch, and there they have the support of his great, big, wonderful family. I loved Chance’s family, and my only wish was that there was more about them in the book. I would have liked to get to know them better, but this is the first book in the series that I have read. Matt and Amber settled in nicely and Sharla Wylde did a great job of portraying the relationships between all the characters. This book had so many twists and turns and kept me hooked the whole time. There were a lot of emotional parts and it helped me get a feel for the characters. Overall, this is a wonderful story about love, healing, life, and family that I enjoyed immensely. I cannot wait to dive into the rest of the Tanner family books.
