In Hidden by Vannetta Chapman, when Ben Marshall walked into the office of his boss at Homeland Security, he was in awe. Not because of the job, but because of Dana Jacobs, his new boss. And secretly Dana had the same reaction to Ben, but she couldn’t, she wouldn’t break down the walls that had been there for so long, and let someone into her private life. After all, Ben was there on a trial basis, and just maybe he won’t pass the qualifications needed to do this job. But Mr. Confident, ex-military Ben Marshall is determined to prove he is capable of anything that is asked of him at Homeland Security.
I love Vannetta Chapman and I love, love this book! I have read all of Ms. Chapman’s Amish books and was pleasantly pleased with this new genre. Ben and Dana and the other characters at Homeland Security in Taos, New Mexico, are unique and outstanding. From the very beginning of the book, they were strong, believable and realistic. At times I felt like I was reading the local newspaper, the scenes were so very real. I loved the attraction between Ben and Dana, and the more Dana fought it, the better it got. At times though, the book was a bit difficult to read. Hidden started off on a sad note and throughout the book, as the flashbacks into the past surfaced, the reading was a bit difficult because of the obvious hurt Dana had gone through in her younger life. Hidden is a fantastic romantic suspense by Vannetta Chapman. One you sure do not want to miss!
