Heroes for My Daughter, written and read by Brad Meltzer, is an audiobook that will inspire you to be a role model for your daughter and to teach lessons through how you live your life. This audiobook includes an introduction explaining why the author wrote this book. There are thirty-three individuals included in this book. Each individual is a hero in the author’s eyes and has a quality which he hopes his daughter will aspire to in her own life. A few heroes included are Audrey Hepburn, Helen Keller, Winston Churchill, Dorothy Day, and Theodore Roosevelt. While these individuals are well-known, the reason they are included in this book is not because of their fame, but for a generous or inspiring act they have done in their lives.
This is an excellent collection of heroes. While listening to this audiobook, I really thought about the individuals I would like my daughter to look up to and also how I need to strive to be such an individual as well. I like that each track on the CD is about a different individual, making this easy to pop in and listen to a tidbit about a specific individual. I also like that Meltzer includes a little bit about each person, and also a quote from that individual. I love the personal touch that is included as the author is reading the book to his daughter in the recording studio. This is a treasure that every parent should have for their daughter.
