Cork O’ Connor returns in Heaven’s Keep. For readers not familiar with this series. Cork O’Connor is a Private Detective. He is a former Chicago Police Officer. The part Irish and part Anishanaabe Indian retires to northern Minnesota for peace and solitude. Trouble always seems to find O’Connor no matter where he goes.
In Heaven’s Keep, Cork and his son Stephen are searching for Jo. Her plane went down in Wyoming. So far there had been no sign of the downed plane. The weather was bad. Between the plane crash and the storm there was little hope for survivors.
There is a deeper mystery than O’Connor first thought. This book has a surprise ending.
William Kent Krueger is a talented author. While the pace in the first half of this book seemed to drag, the second half picks up. Cory O’Connor books are not your typical mystery. Krueger incorporates tribal mysticism. The Native American legends and traditions are my favorite part of this award winning series.
