Have You Seen My Reflection? by Peabody Law shows that there’s someone special for everyone. That special someone is like a reflection of one’s self. When a Celebration Dance is planned for the arrival of the new Peachicks, everyone is invited and everyone has that special someone, their reflection, to join them. Everyone except the guest of honor, Cob Cobblepot, Meadow Fields' beloved matchmaker. It seems strange that Cob, who helps everyone else in Meadow Fields find their match, can’t find his own. So the animals of Meadow Fields try a little matchmaking of their own. Somehow Cob, who is a dignified swan, doesn’t match well with a fly presented by Grumpy Frog. The other attempts fail too. It’s going to take that one magical moment to match Cob with his reflection.
Peabody Law’s picture book story, Have You Seen My Reflection? is a sweet story about relationships. The tale is told in simple language so that young readers can follow along. The plot follows Cob’s anxiety over not having a partner, a reflection, for the Celebration Dance. Introducing the various animal characters’ solutions to Cob’s dilemma is rather amusing, even though, doomed from the start, their hearts are in the right place. Like the classics, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast, this story is a fairy tale, a fantasy, but a wonderful, sweet romance that will capture the hearts of young readers and the young at heart. A perfect match, of course, must be like a reflection, as partners reflect upon each other. Beautifully illustrated.
