During that time he developed a love for writing true stories about uncommon events--the tales of America. In his books you will find fascinating stories that are uniquely American, presented in a way that makes them both engaging and informative. Paul's stories are not the typical endless series of facts, figures, and chronologies that tend to make history...well, boring. Instead, he uses words to paint a picture of the past you may never have known existed.

"Haunted Las Vegas" by Paul Papa tells of famous phantoms, gambling ghosts and somewhat creepy casinos in the Fremont East district of Las Vegas. Phantoms that frequent the "strip" are the not-so-famous man who "invented" Las Vegas and famous casino owners. Then the reader is treated to visits which have proven "strange" to the non-residents such as casinos with a sordid past and casinos that appear to be cursed. On the Ghost Tour, there are private homes in which ghoulish things occurred and these places are said to be haunted by tortured souls who simply cannot pass to the other side because of anger, resentment or inability to accept their own deaths.
The author has researched the stories and those who believe in ghosts will undoubtedly find them credible. However, there is a paucity of any real research about the apparitions to back up the stories. Those who don't already believe will probably not be convinced. I did find the stories and the history of the Las Vegas area a treasure in and of itself. The ghost and haunting stories simply add a bit of "local flavor" to the history. Probably the best known haunted place is the famous Flamingo, the stomping ground to the infamous mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel. The story surrounding Bugsy's involvement in the Las Vegas culture is fascinating and probably one which most readers will find an interesting part of the city's history. To be sure, the stories are legends but nevertheless, fascinating to the reader who loves to speculate about life beyond the known.
