Harvest Cruise by Rebecca Benison will make you think twice about taking a cruise. When Geri, an introvert and a writer, is invited on a free cruise by her best friend, Lisa, she looks at it as a chance to come out of her shell a little. Geri meets Billy, and what should have been a light holiday romance becomes her worst nightmare. When her best friend disappears, Geri must step up and push through her comfort zone to try to find her, but she doesn’t expect buried traumas to resurface. Now she’s fighting for her own survival while trying to save her friend. Can Geri beat her demons to save Lisa, or is it all lost?

Harvest Cruise by Rebecca Benison has a unique plot that will lure you in gradually. It isn't a fast-paced story, but it is steady, and the suspense is a gradual buildup that holds your attention. The plot focuses on an introvert who needs to break with her routine, and it forces her to confront her past. This is an evocative subject, but the author has woven it in seamlessly and dealt with it compassionately in a tight thriller that will keep your interest all the way through. Part of the narrative is the main protagonist’s internal monologue, which helps readers understand her better, and perhaps have more empathy with people they know who may be introverts – it can help others understand how they cope with life. This is compelling reading, a story that will keep you engaged throughout, and recommended if you want a thriller with a difference.
