I chose to read Hang'n with Kasey: My First Day of School by Karl Christon because I want to get my child ready for her own first day of school. The best way to do that is to show her through pictures and books. Hang'n with Kasey was perfect for this because it showed what happened on Kasey’s first day of school.
The first thing I noticed about Hang'n with Kasey was the colorful illustrations by Ricky Scott. The pictures are eye catching and show the everyday occurrences that happen when going to school. The characters look and remind me of Precious Moments, they are just more realistic. Karl Christon, otherwise known as KC, the author of the book, wrote the story in rhymes. The story was easy to read for my three-year-old and had a nice flow to it. The classes shown in this book are all the fun ones like art and music. I wish that there was a math class shown also, but I understand that KC was trying to make school look fun. Overall, I think this is a good book.
After reading Hang'n with Kasey: My First Day of School, I can honestly say that my child is looking forward to her own first day of school. There are more books in the Hang'n with Kasey series. This one is the third in the series and I have found some that are written in Spanish. I will be looking forward to be reading more of this series with my child.
