Guess This Ginger Cat's Name by Carroll Lutz is about a cat that has many names. Kids and adults alike will have fun as they guess the name of the cat by the clues given on each page. And even more fun, each page has a different clue so you guess a new name for the cat. This cat could be an escaper or a hiker, reckless, or even Elvis! Whatever the clue, there is surely a name that will come to mind. And on the last few pages, you will find a relaxed ginger cat with its owner and a yummy snack to reveal the real ginger cat's name. Interestingly, many of the things in this book are based on the real life of the author's own ginger cat. There is also a map at the end that tracks the cat's journey throughout the book.
I love cats, so I tend to grab a lot of cat books to read and review. Guess This Ginger Cat's Name by Carroll Lutz is one of the most interesting and fun books I have read about cats. The author had a brilliant idea in writing this book, not only to help introduce complex, more difficult words to a younger audience, but to have the pages full of fun rhymes and clues that will keep young readers guessing different names for the ginger cat. And the illustrations created by Alaina Luise are so very adorable and work perfectly with the story on each page. I love how the pictures capture the cat at just the right moment. I think this is a great book for children who can read, and I also feel younger children would love having this book read to them. Guess This Ginger Cat's Name absolutely needs to be in every library and anywhere a child may be.
