Aurelia has some tough choices to make. In Ground Zero by Magus Tor, she’s training to be a med worker. Her aptitude had been tested, her career picked out, and they never make a mistake. Hand in hand with her closest friend, Marnee, they face the biggest challenge in the medical training program, injecting patients who are suffering and bound to die. Still, the choice is not easy, taking a life. Refusing to do so, being a failure, is not an option. Only the top student makes it to Lunar City. Aurelia is competitive, but before graduation she’s faced with a decision she almost can’t make. Do they really never make mistakes? Can she trust anyone’s advice, even people like her father? Can she change the system by herself?
A tremendous beginning to an epic story, Ground Zero is the prequel to the Numbered Series. The plot twist at the end of this book is powerfully done, well worth your time. Imagine if someone who really wanted to make the world a better place was given the tools to take life. Would you do it? I found this book gave me enough hints as to what’s to come in the series that I certainly wanted to read more. Why does her father always seem to know so much? And like Aurelia, I wanted to know where the failures go. Magus Tor is talented at keeping you guessing. If you want to find the answers, you’ll have to pick up the next book in the series! Overall, great job. Wonderful twist. I enjoyed this book.
