Grace by Nicole Warner is a fantasy novel suitable for lovers of subtle romance and magic-based stories. Kingship was thrust upon Edmund at a very tender age after the death of his father. Upon assuming this duty, he enjoyed taking every kind of woman to bed, making his cousin, Lord Eadred, detest him. The time came for Edmund to marry and his betrothed was Princess Anais from Chartelyr. She didn't know the ways of his country, Tellenel, hence, the duty to teach and prepare her for the wedding fell to Lord Eadred. Together, they moved to a monastery for the lessons where things unfolded. Something supernatural binds them; a phenomenon they didn't understand. Will they be able to stay loyal to the country of Tellenel and its king?
I loved everything about Grace by Nicole Warner. It was a sweet fusion of alternative romance and the supernatural, with a historical backdrop. It felt like two stories perfectly merged into one; Anais's impending marriage and Eadred's confusion about his powers. This fusion made the plot unique, unpredictable, and spellbinding. Grace is only the first part of the Three Times Blessed series, and it had such depth that I can't wait to read the other parts. The characters were well developed, and my favorite of them was Princess Anais. For a teenager, she was quite wise, quick-minded, and could hold her own. She also knew herself and wasn't easily swayed by anything. The dialogues flowed effortlessly and the language was simple. Nicole has done an excellent job and I'd love to read more from her.
