Goodbye Crocodile by Conor Patrick is an exquisite collection of twelve short stories that take readers on a wonderful reading journey. The stories are all set against an American backdrop, making readers introspect and drink in the superb narration and descriptions by the author. The American theme tells us about the author's background and he has managed to capture the beauty and starkness of the American landscape beautifully. The stories are rich in imagery, enhancing the visual appeal of the stories where readers can picture the scene or the moment. The stories are profound and they all have some underlying emotion or feeling that runs through them.
The story 'Goodbye Crocodile' is poignant and it speaks about loss which all of us can relate to. The short stories are open to interpretation which is a good thing because it makes readers think. 'Bloom in Snow' is again another story that captures the winter season with stark emotions. The stories are short, crisp, and packed with raw feelings. Though the stories are short, the emotional impact is strong and credit goes to the author's style of narration. The author has captured the sights, sounds, and colors of the American landscape.
The author's writing style is neat and elegant and all the stories are very high on emotions. The wordplay is effective and highlights the beauty of the landscape along with the story. Every story reveals the author's keen eye for nature and life in general.
