Glow in the Dark: A Streak of Light by T. J. Scripps is about Ruby Diamond in a story amidst objects that dazzle and the presence and power of light. Ruby lives with her family in a seemingly typical lifestyle. She has to deal with annoying schoolmates and, recently, an argumentative younger sister. After her grandmother presented her with a unique dreamcatcher for her birthday, something magical changed her life forever. The dreamcatcher has the power to transport her to another realm. The realm is wondrous to Ruby because it has everything shimmering, shiny, and radiant. This world is unknown to humans. When shocking events start happening, not all are positive and the Light Beings start getting shivers. There is a human amongst them, and now the Dark Beings are coming.
Glow in the Dark by T. J. Scripps does a brilliant job of turning black and white text into a vividly colorful and attractive story that will appeal to young readers who enjoy anything sparkling. The story is filled with glittering and radiance I did not think possible. Scripps has taken bling and successfully transformed it into a book. It should enchant young readers immediately. The beautiful illustrations presented at the start of each chapter make the story more fun, engaging young readers even more. Readers will be on tenterhooks, waiting to see if and when the Dark Beings fulfill their dark mission. The dialogue was appealing and appropriate. Parents will enjoy reading this book because of all the entertaining similes and metaphors.
