Generation Z Goes to College by Corey Seemiller and Meghan Grace is a non-fiction, research-based book that focuses on the newest generation and their experiences and struggles with higher education. Generation Z consists of those born between 1995 and 2010. This generation is now flooding college campuses and it’s clear that their motivations, goals, and even learning styles are vastly different from other generations. Seemiller and Grace carefully showcase the findings of a 1,100 participant in-depth study. These students from 15 colleges and universities help us find common mindsets and goals that the authors apply to members of Generation Z.

Millennials seem to be the focus in all the mainstream media but Generation Z is often forgotten. I thought it was really interesting to see how the newest generation made decisions on where to go to school, how to pay for it and even what to major in. I loved how Generation Z Goes to College explained the background to the study and showcased where these students chose to go to college. I believe that doing so really helped me, as the reader, understand more of the data and almost helped me put a face behind the text. I knew each generation was unique, but this book really showcased the true difference in mindset that Generation Z is bringing to school and eventually the workplace. Everyone talks poorly about the future generation but this book has a lot of good insight that makes you proud of the future and what this generation will accomplish.
