Future Unfolds by J.L. Yarrow is a riveting exploration of time travel and its potential to alter the course of human history. Set in a dystopian future where humanity’s fate hangs in the balance, the novel centers on the Time Forward Project and its time agent, Kristen Winters. The Time Forward Project’s mission is to change pivotal historical events to prevent the catastrophic outcomes they now face. The team identifies a critical event—the bombing of the Masjid Alahmari Mosque in Manhattan—as the catalyst for a nuclear conflict that devastated Earth. Kristen Winters, the project’s determined time agent, is tasked with preventing this tragedy. Kristen is joined by Hunter Coburn, an AI scientist from the present day, whose expertise and cutting-edge AI, Comperi, become invaluable assets in their mission.
J.L. Yarrow writes vividly, capturing the reader’s imagination from the first page to the last. The pacing of Future Unfolds kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t put it down. Yarrow weaves a complex subject into a novel rich with characters and subplots, making this a story that science fiction and time travel fans will enjoy. Even those who enjoy fast-paced adventures will want to read Future Unfolds. Kristen and Hunter are well-developed characters; readers will root for them as they navigate the dangerous Dark Void. This husband-and-wife author team will entertain readers with the storyline and well-written prose. This is the second book in a trilogy, and I had no issues understanding this story without reading the first volume.
