"For Those Who Stare at the Moon," written by Tiffany A. Flowers and illustrated by James Eugene, is an excellent choice as a bedtime story to share with your child! Filled with beautiful, soothing illustrations and rhyming text, this book takes the reader on a journey to the moon and back merely using one's imagination. A young girl imagines taking a trip to the moon and how it would be and what she would see along the journey. Many adjectives are used along with imagery to create pictures and help the young child to imagine this journey in their own minds as well as seeing it on the pages. What a great book to use along with actually looking at the moon with your child!
This book is a cute, quick read and yet it is filled with various words and imagery that may need to be explained further to young children. Therefore, it is an interactive book to share with your child. This book was also written for a great cause, helping New Orleans rebuild their library after Hurricane Katrina. This is an excellent book for this cause as it will encourage young children to read. It will also inspire parents and caregivers to read with their children and it will stimulate a child's imagination and also encourage interaction between the child and adult. Everyone will enjoy reading this book, as I did. It took me back to being a child and lying in bed, looking out my bedroom window at the moon.
