A quiet recluse.

"Flute of the Wind Queen" is an excellent adventure for young adults. This is the story of young Leander who wants to be a treasure hunter – and what youngster doesn’t dream of adventure! Leander is being raised by his single father who is in the military. This is hard for Leander as his country is at war and his father has recently been deployed so he is alone much of the time, missing his father. It does, however, aid him on his adventure. He is off to find the lost flute that once belonged to the Wind Queen. In his initial search he encounters Ellora who ultimately helps him by shipping him across the border into Geuran, the country his father’s army is fighting. While in Geuran he finds the flute but to get it he needs help from a surprising new friend – Geuranian!
This is a well-written story with lots of excitement and adventure. Leander gets into a lot of tight spots and has to think fast to get out of trouble. The inclusion of everyday life and objects makes it realistic and appealing. The inclusion of intricate relationships between the characters makes it not only an entertaining story but one that pulled me in and kept my attention. I could easily connect with Leander and his confusion about his friendship with Deckard, the Geuranian who helped him. His feelings of betrayal when Ellora disappeared with the flute after he’d gone through so much to get it also felt more real because I had such a connection with Leander. I would definitely recommend this book to any reader!
