Festival of the Elves: The Magic Around You is a heart-warming children’s book written by Holly Figgyworth, accompanied by Mai S. Kemble’s stunning illustrations. Holly and Noel are two elf siblings whose grandfather started the Festival of the Elves throughout December. Leaving little notes and surprise gifts worked wonders for the elves. The siblings decide to share their joyous festival with the humans; however, the Elf Elders warn them that magic is in limited supply. If they utilize their scant magic to reach the humans, it will not leave them enough to return to the North pole. Undaunted, the duo decides to visit the Puddington family. Can they create enough magic to share with the Puddingtons and then get back home?
Despite its short length, Festival of the Elves: The Magic Around You is an utterly magical book. The little elves’ determination to make magic and share it, regardless of the obstacles, rewards them in unimaginable ways. Holly Figgyworth shows how we all can create unbelievable magic just by being kind and charitable. The different days of the festival teach us to have fun and frolic, but at the same time to be grateful for the precious things in life. The beautiful, eye-catching illustrations by Kemble have enough charm to make the story even more magical. Be it the elves wandering in their colorful town or the humans enjoying themselves in their cozy home, Kemble’s drawings convey every conceivable emotion astutely. This book is a perfect Christmas gift for youngsters.
