Falling into Temptation by Vulyncia Poindexter is a story that has everything required to seduce a reader — gorgeous and well-crafted characters, a dynamo for a conflict, and a character-driven plot with its unique turns and incredible surprises. Tempest Turner is a selfish kind of person who thinks a lot, if not always, about what she wants, and what makes her dangerous is that she’d do anything to get what she wants. Her friend Alyssa King is a successful woman who owns one of the reputable salons in Atlanta, married to an equally successful man. On the surface, Tempest and Alyssa are cool, but beneath the façade secrets are buried that are about to be laid bare. What will become of this friendship? Can they stand the truth?
This is a story filled with a lot of drama and deceit. The characters are ambitious and they are crafted with qualities that reflect a lot of the humanity of many readers. In short, it’s hard to not feel these characters. Vulyncia Poindexter writes well and her beautiful prose is sprinkled with sweet, humorous, and witty dialogues. There is a lot I enjoyed in this story. The storyline is beautifully thought-out and developed to read uninterruptedly. Written in the first person narrative, the reader has to shift between different narrators with distinct and compelling voices and this is a very successful style because it allows the reader to get into the perspective of each narrator. Falling into Temptation will tempt you until you reach the last page, panting after a hilarious ride.
