Escaping Our Fallen Nature is a work of non-fiction in the motivational and religious subgenres. It is suitable for the general reading audience and will particularly appeal to Christian readers. It was penned by author David Piper. Written in the spirit of discovering new beginnings, overcoming challenges, and changing your way of life if it is not bringing you true joy, this text uses scripture and the author’s own interpretations and experiences to look at the transformative possibilities of God. Examining the possibility of developing a new nature is the first step in this interesting motivational work that can help readers find solace and a means to escape from temptation and destructive forces in their lives.
Author David Piper is a writer who gets his point across with true passion and dedication for his subject matter, and the scriptural basis used in his work is well-sourced and utilized to make clear, cognizant points about transformation and examining one’s own heart. One of the sections which I found the most interesting was the introspective and analysis-based approach of Chapter 13: Testing if Heading the Right Direction. I think it’s always good to encourage moments to stop and self-assess and check in with ourselves on our current life path, and Piper sets out a great template for doing so for the religiously inclined. Devout Christians seeking guidance are sure to find much to help them in the pages of Escaping Our Fallen Nature and overall I would say it is one of the most in-depth and dedicated works of its kind that I’ve seen.
