In Embracing Reality: A Directive for Achieving Sustainability in the Twenty-first Century, Jeb Taylor states that humankind’s behavior is severely diminishing the earth’s resources. In this spellbinding, utterly thought-provoking and timely discussion, the author invites readers to consider the root causes of why the earth is on the brink of collapse and reveals the ways our civilizations have contributed to the depletion that the earth suffers at this point in time in areas of resources. There is no denying that the earth is dying and that our egocentric and consumerist cultures only make things worse. In this work, the author shows the roles that religion, politics, and some of the traditional schools of thought play in creating a culture that doesn’t support sustainable living, and offers clear and reasonable ways forward.
This is a purpose-driven discussion that is well-structured and articulated to create the awareness that everyone needs to embrace a healing culture. But how can people embrace a sustainable culture when they have been systematically indoctrinated with dogmas that are contrary to reason? Jeb Taylor demystifies the dogmas that are written in religious doctrines and challenges readers to look past faith and see powerful answers to the earth’s crisis in reason. He writes: “Sustainability can only be achieved if we embrace reason, and there is no reason to support religion.” About politics he states: “Like religious SIGs, political SIGs elicit public support through indoctrination campaigns and firmly believe that their ideologies are right and that all others are wrong.” Embracing Reality: A Directive for Achieving Sustainability in the Twenty-first Century is a timely, eye-opening book that could be the answer to the critical questions related to the health of the earth, a road map to saving the world we all love. It is well-researched, authoritative, and gripping.
