Election 2064: Book Two by Scott McDermott is a sci-fi conspiracy drama to haunt your dreams. It's about a nation on the verge of permanent ruin--the United States. What do an artist, technologist, policy analyst, governor, and the president have in common? They all play a part in this conspiracy, and you will read this political saga with both dread and hope. You dread the things that could come, but hope it turns out in a better way. The president has a lot on his shoulders, so is he able to rise to the challenges, or will other factors intervene? Keep reading to find out in this engaging page-turning sequel.
What I like about McDermott's writing is that he builds suspense without giving the story away or tidying it up too quickly. He leaves just enough to keep you invested, and provides explanations too. The story gets off to a great start and keeps moving ahead, unveiling story arcs and character arcs that are unexpected but satisfying. The tension is palpable, and the conflicts are believable. Some of the scenarios mirror the political climate of today, so it's interesting to see how a situation like McDermott's plays out. As you read, you really feel like you're in the characters' shoes and wonder what you would do. Although this book is intriguing on its own, readers may want to enjoy the first installment. And I'm glad the author left room at the end of this second book for a third work. As any good conspiracy novel goes, you have a good dose of secrecy and revelations. Election 2064: Book Two by Scott McDermott will keep your conspiracy wheels turning for a long time to come.
