Eat Meat Without Feet: 165 Healthy Pescatarian Meals Featuring Seafood and Vegetarian Proteins is a work of non-fiction in the cookery and nutrition subgenres. It is suitable for all readers and was penned by Carrie Shapley to showcase her flair and talent for inventive fish dishes that boost protein and cut carbs. An ideal primer for changing one’s eating habits in the new year, or at any time really, the work offers beautifully presented recipes utilizing the best fish, seafood, and plant-based nutrition to boost your metabolism and general health. The work is gorgeously presented with a series of bright and enticing photographs, with the recipes presented using the U.S. volume measurement system.
As a vegan, I might have thought this book wouldn’t have much for me, but I was delighted from the moment I opened the vibrant contents page and spotted so much plant-based goodness in the bold, enticing print. Carrie Shapley has a real knack for developing recipes that are light and easy to eat, shifting away from carb-heavy, energy-draining dinners to recipes that fill you with energy and nutrition. A few personal favorites included the ‘bacon’ onion rings, the mighty 'swellington wellington', and pretty much everything on the dry rubs and seasonings menu. Even the non-vegan recipes would be so easy to adapt with milk and meat alternatives. I’d certainly recommend Eat Meat Without Feet to anyone who is looking to cut down on or cut out meat entirely, and for pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans seeking new ideas and lighter twists on their favorites.
