"Dream Country" successfully blends a story of the dynamics of family with murder, mystery, suspense, action and drama. Doyle Renfro is a country music star who is being sued by two of his children in order to gain control of his business interest. In the middle of all this, his illegitimate daughter finds out who he is and confronts him. The story is leaked to the press and soon the family's woe is everybody's business. To compound everything, Pearl, the illegitimate daughter, is found murdered in her apartment. In this book, one woman's dreams lead her to uncover a vicious plot by a man who had already murdered her half sister and a homeless man who he thought could thwart his plans for a bigger piece of his wife's inheritance. The dreams provide clues to solve the murder and save an innocent man from Jail.
"Dream Country" is exciting and hard to put down. It is well-written and engaging. The characters appear very real and are well-developed. It is easy to identify with them. The plot has several twists and turns that leave one constantly trying to guess who the bad guy really is. The dreams add an extra bit of flavour to the plot and are very clever. The book held my attention to the very end and I tried very hard to determine who the killer was. The plot masked that little fact well enough for me not to be absolutely sure until the end. Overall, this is a good book and a good read.
