Dragon Eye Chronicles Book 2: Time Quake by Ross Haines continues the space opera saga of the Nightshade family. The fight to protect the human race and stop them from becoming slaves to far more powerful alien races is still ongoing. While fighting small battles and winning them felt good, the real trouble was brewing en route to Glise 57 galaxy. An alien race named Eltross was readying plans to do something terrible to annihilate the human race. The only person between this and success is Tava Pane. However, Tava is battling with some demons and decisions that could either save humanity or completely destroy herself. What would she do?
If you haven’t read the previous novel in the series, things might get a little confusing for you. Time Quake is intricate and complicated in the best way possible. Since I haven’t read the first novel in the series, it took me two readings. Once I got familiar with the names, characters, and other technicalities, it was all smooth sailing from there. Tava’s secret is shocking but so well-timed. You can tell that author Ross Haines did a lot of planning to make a novel of this magnitude work this well. Each conversation is important for the pace of the plot. The Eltross race is terrifying and I would give everything to read the author’s rough drafts on them. The pace is perfect for the story. The action never stops, and the balance between technology and humanity is perfect! I didn’t feel for a single moment that the androids or the technology were overshadowing the humans or the main characters. Each character had a story to tell and they did it wonderfully well. I would highly recommend this series!
