Nikki and her two besties, Zoe and Chloe, have so many things to deal with in life. Between school, social status and mean girls like MacKenzie, the days can be tiresome. Nikki's crush, Brandon, finally has taken notice of her (to her relief already)! What kind of girl wouldn't be smitten over a boy who loves to volunteer taking care of homeless animals? When she learns that the shelter that he spends time at is being forced to close, the three girls use an upcoming charity fundraiser to help save the day. Along the way, Nikki discovers a heavy load that Brandon carries which only makes her want to make it all better in any way she can. Will it be foible or fantastic? You will have to find out for yourself!
I loved this audio book. It was like listening to somebody read my dramatic niece's diary. O-M-G-! The writer skillfully captures the mindset of young middle school girls. She nails it when it comes to the things that are so huge at this age but funny to everybody else. I wouldn't go back and relive those years for anything and her characters certainly reminded me why! This is one book in a series with these fun characters and their roller coaster years. These books are funny and suitable for any age. I think any library that serves juvenile reading level should be sure to have these on hand in multiple copies of each release!
