I had so much fun creating this beach story, especially since it includes both fictional and factual components. The main characters are fictional, but everything about the baby loggerheads is true. I hope kids enjoy learning about these precious, protected creatures. I also love little Doonsey and his pal, Soferton. They are kind and thoughtful with adventurous spirits and hearts of a heroes. If readers enjoy this story, maybe Doonsey will share more of his exploring adventures in the future.
The "Beach Buddies" were fun to create. They evolved after building sand sculptures at the beach with my grandchildren. My imagination started working and I wondered what would happen if these "creatures" came to life, wriggled their way right upout of the sand, and took on human characteristics. They are pretty crazy, but I hope kids enjoy them and their silly knock-knock jokes. That same beach vacation, we discovered a protected sea turtle nest, so this whole story just evolved at the beach!
Note to kids: Hi Kids! I hope hope you enjoy this story. I also hope you will gather items at the beach or from your backyard and create your own beach or nature buddies. Maybe you could even write your own "buddy" story! Oh, and don't forget to add a few knock-knock jokes.

Soferton takes one last look at the little bottle and throws it into the ocean as far as she can. She hopes her friend Doonsey will get the message in Doonsey's Return: The Great Rescue: Part 2 by Rhonda Paglia. Doonsey has just returned from exploring the Lost City of the Atlantic Ocean and he is telling his friends about his adventure. Just then, Mailman Monkfish comes with Soferton’s message. Soferton’s beach buddies are missing and she needs Doonsey’s help in finding them. Will Doonsey be able to help Soferton find her beach buddies? What do they find while searching for their beach buddies?
The book is filled with adventure, information, and educational content in a fun and interactive manner which children will find captivating. The author brings together fun, creativity, learning, and beach settings, making it an entertaining story. The illustrations are adorable, bright, and they make the concept clear to children. The story also speaks about protecting the environment by taking care of the ocean creatures. The facts about loggerheads, the loggerhead coloring page, and the questions at the end make the book interesting. It can be used for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries to help children understand the importance of protecting ocean creatures and keeping the beach clean. This story will also bring back memories of the beach and summer vacations to many readers. It is definitely a must-have in one’s personal collection as there is so much to learn from the story of Soferton and Doonsey.
