Aaron Powell served as a Marine during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2003 with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice and a psychology minor. He also completed a second bachelor of arts in business administration at Ashford University, where he graduated with distinction in 2011. Aaron Powell is the author of the Doomsday Diaries series, C-Town, Benjamin, Sugar Baby and Scream, “Aye, Sir!” He enjoys reading – particularly military history/non-fiction – writing, and is an active marksman. “Doomsday Diaries III: Luke the Protector” by Aaron B. Powell, is the third volume in a superb four volume story entitled “Doomsday Diaries: The Complete Series”. Book III picks up right where Book II ended. In the prologue we witness a pair of scientists aboard the New World Order Space Station, preparing to restructure the DNA code of the body of a recently crucified young man. As has often been the case to this point, seemingly miraculous things occur in short order, before a warning alarm begins to repeat, “Proximity alert: impact imminent.”
Before a catastrophic end to the space station can occur, we are taken back to the Philippines in World War II, where we witness an ancestor of Luke being maliciously forced to partake in the infamous Bataan Death March. This vignette also ends with an undefined miraculous event which saves the life of Lyle Mitchell, Luke’s ancestor. Throughout Book III we observe Luke as he performs miraculous healings, controls basic elements, directs the weather, and so on. (At no point is there any attempt to equate Luke with Jesus Christ, nor does Luke consider himself as such. Quite to the contrary, Luke refutes any such comparisons.)
Back aboard the aircraft carrier, life goes on as normally as possible. Celebrations are held, a couple people are married, and things seem to be going fairly well. But Luke somehow knows his time is short. Then a black helicopter appears from landward, and sets down on the deck of the carrier; nobody was expecting a black helicopter.
This Book III part of the four volume series is not meant to be read as a standalone novel. It is the third part of the series, and is intended to be read after Books I and II, and before Book IV. Only then will it be experienced as the outstanding epic supernatural science fiction story that it is. The series covers a fairly large segment of time, if you consider the flashbacks as part of the time line. The entire series is one that I give my whole-hearted, fervent recommendation. Likewise, I recommend you read “Luke the Protector”, but PLEASE, only after you’ve read the first two volumes in the series. You will not soon forget this story.
