Our style of communication begins with childhood. How we were raised reflects our perspective and the tone in which we emit communication frequencies. In her book, Does My Voice Matter? sub-titled A Journey of Self-Discovery, Authenticity and Empowerment, Cynthia James uses her life experiences and personal observations as a performing artist and coach in helping the reader find and understand the importance of having a voice. The voice is essential because it creates power, stimulates expression, and awakens a platform for influencing or making decisions that may otherwise not occur. Along life's journey, many people may have lost their power to communicate effectively due to childhood difficulties, or trauma within the workplace, church, or interpersonal relationships. This book helps to ignite the fire to get your voice back and to be heard.
Does My Voice Matter? by Cynthia James is a great way to learn more about yourself and those triggers that challenge you. As Cynthia describes in this book, our voices matter in various respects: "It is not just about the sound of the voice. It is about the full expression of the individual. That means it can be spoken, danced, written, painted, and expressed in multiple forms. The important focus is that the voice brings to life the authentic and vulnerable demonstration of each human being." These are the layers where growth and healing begin to take shape. View this book as if Cynthia is walking alongside you using tools and exercises, and coaching you through the process from discovery and introspection to being your genuine self as she's been able to do personally. Recognizing your voice affects us all at some point in our lives. It impacts some people more than others but taking the steps necessary to get that power back and speaking your truth is the key. Enjoy!
