Divine Retribution is a thriller by R. Weir. An assassin killed Hunter’s girlfriend to send him a message to stop his investigation of a US senator. The killer made a recording of the apartment and the dead woman and sent it to the parties who paid for the hit. Proof of the kill was sent to Hunter. With the cash he needed, Hunter went off the grid as much as possible, deciding what his next move would be. An evil woman from a powerful organization claims to be his mother, and Hunter searches for answers about his childhood. Hunter learns secrets about his childhood that tie him to her, and when assassins are sent to kill the other members of his team, he is forced to make a difficult choice.
Divine Retribution is complex and exciting. I was hooked from the first page until the end. The plot was excellently planned and executed. It was fast-paced, and with all the action, there was never a dull moment. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what to expect. It was a page-turner, and I could not turn the pages fast enough. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, guessing what would happen next. The characters were authentic and relatable. They could be anyone I know. The team cared about Hunter, and despite a mutual decision to wait until he contacted them, they began to follow up on leads to help him. This was an intriguing story by R. Weir, and I could not have asked for a better ending.
