It is almost impossible not to be on the edge of anger when reading statements like this one: “A surprising number of effective therapies are already available to better treat the diseases of aging. In the treatment of many cancers, for instance, the proper use of the drugs metformin, aspirin, and cimetidine markedly improves clinical outcomes.” Why are we not being told of optional treatments that are available and why are those treatments not approved? Disease Prevention and Treatment by Life Extension attempts to answer this question to a point, but is mostly concerned with imparting the lifesaving information from alternative treatments, cures and prevention from around the world. The most debilitating diseases can be prevented, treated or even cured by numerous methods that do not yet have FDA approval and are often disregarded by busy health care providers who continue to treat their patients using the “traditional and accepted” approaches. This volume is an excellent reference for those who are looking for answers to extend their lives beyond the ravages of not only the illnesses, but often times the side effects of the medications being used to treat them.

It is becoming more and more evident that we are each going to have to take complete responsibility for our own health care. The scientific staff of Life Extension has done their homework when it comes to gathering the information contained in Disease Prevention and Treatment. The sheer volume of 132 treatments that are included in this book are a testimony to their efforts and the editorial staff has done an excellent job of putting it all together for the public. Used as a quick reference guide for possible treatment options that your doctor isn’t likely to suggest and which have not been approved by the FDA, this book will enable a person to tend to their own treatment and actually extend their longevity in spite of the political and economic factors that have prevented these treatments to be made commonly available. Gone are the days when the health of the patient was the foremost concern of medical care, however, with Disease Prevention and Treatment in hand, you can find treatments and cures for diseases and illnesses which have been dubbed “incurable.”
