Sam Marlowe, a private investigator in Washington D.C, had no idea what he was getting himself into when he accepted the three cases from his latest clients. Helen Boston, the first client, claimed that she was receiving weird messages on her phone and that her life might be in danger. The second client, Dominick LaFarge, president of a tech company dealing in government communication software, wanted Marlowe to investigate the sudden disappearance of his best tech whizz, Sameer Patel. In the third case, Gold Feather, the owner of an art gallery, wanted Marlowe to track down a man who had cheated her. Before Marlowe can get his wits together, Boston is found dead in her house. Was she murdered? As Marlowe goes in pursuit of answers, his life is on the line as he becomes a target for the most powerful drug cartel in the world and influential people on Capitol Hill. Will Marlowe get to the bottom of it all before they get to him? Find out in Larry Kahaner’s Did the Frail Have a Heater?
This classic whodunnit will have you hooked, flipping from cover to cover. If you are looking for a gripping, fast-paced mystery murder and sleuth novel with a touch of crime, Larry Kahaner’s Did the Frail Have a Heater? is a must-read. Featuring an exciting cast, Kahaner spins a tangled web of mystery around an intriguing plot. The edge-of-the-seat suspense, ingenious plot twists, and spell-binding cliffhangers had me turning pages nonstop. The colorful evocative descriptions breathed life into the scenes, hurling me right in the middle of all the action in Washington D.C. It felt like I was next to each character, helplessly watching their every move as the scenes unfolded. I found the conversations enthralling and engaging, and coupled with Kahaner’s knack for humor, I had a good laugh. Marlowe is an instinctive, hard-headed, savvy sleuth you simply can’t get enough of. Between receiving threats and beatings from mercenaries hired to deter his efforts, and facing uncooperative cops whose skeptical attitudes bordered on hostility, I was amazed that Marlowe still held his ground and went ahead with his job.
