This novella is written in an exciting, fast paced style. Just as each day flies by with new mysterious happenings, so does the actual reading. The character development is intriguing as the reader is soon cheering on the two burglars, hoping they will solve the mystery of who is on their trail. The history of Andy and Mia’s childhood and reappearance of their father in later years adds a depth of understanding to their questionable ventures. Author Inge-Lise Goss has developed an engaging and intriguing mystery in Diamonds and Lies. Perhaps this will be the beginning of a new romance suspense series.

Diamonds and Lies by Inge-Lise Goss is a story about a young woman who leads quite an unusual life. Mia works for the advertising agency Feinstein & Dawson, but that is not all. Since the death of their mother, Mia and her brother Andy are involved in their father's occupation, thievery, and the siblings are skilled burglars. After the arrest and subsequent death of their father in a prison cell three years ago, and after doing one last burglary, Mia believes she doesn't have to steal again. But a telephone call from Andy changes the situation and she finds herself planning a diamond heist once more. Andy has shortchanged someone in their last job and he has to produce the diamonds fast or else he will get into deeper trouble. Usually, Mia's role is to distract unsuspecting wealthy men and Andy, a talented safe-cracker, does the rest, but things do not happen as planned, and Mia becomes entangled with Vince Tolbert, the cousin of successful jeweler Oliver LeMonte.

Fast paced and entertaining, Inge-Lise Goss' Diamonds and Lies is a pleasant read. Living a double life, Mia is a likeable character, notwithstanding her criminal activities. Hers is certainly a life full of thrills and danger and this is perhaps the reason why a reader could become enamored with her. Inge-Lise Goss is masterful in weaving together a tale that is filled with unexpected twists and turns and yet manages to stay on course. Coherent and concise, Diamonds and Lies also tells the story of Mia Carlyle and Vince Tolbert as they gravitate towards each other's arms and it is a very interesting read.
