Desperate Endurance by Kasey Riley is a suspenseful fiction story that will draw you into the world of endurance horse riding. Bethany is an endurance rider and is taking a break at a rest stop when she unwittingly steps into a highly volatile situation. She promises to help the shooting victim and sets off to learn as much as she can about those involved. She changes her appearance, as those involved are now chasing after her and the knowledge she gained from the victim. Bethany ends up in a small town that helps to hide and protect her. She also meets the victim's son, Roger, and has a connection with him she can't explain. She doesn't have time to get romantically involved with men chasing after her, but she needs someone that she can rely on and trust. Roger needs answers about what happened to his father, and Bethany might be the only one who can give Roger the healing closure that he needs.
Desperate Endurance is a nice mystery and romance wrapped around a backdrop of horse racing. I learned so much about the sport of endurance riding and found that knowledge very fascinating. Riley obviously knows the world of endurance racing very well and that expertise shone through on the pages. The scenes felt accurately written and Riley's knowledge felt spot on. I especially enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the rides and ride camps. This story will appeal to every horse lover as well as fans of mysteries and suspenseful romances.
