"Falaha’s Journey: Descent" by Jeno Marz is narrated by Falaha, a five year old alien child. In many ways Falaha is much more mature than a human child of the same age. She is intelligent, bright, gifted and a fascinating character. It was mesmerizing watching Falaha grow into a strong leader. Her people embrace their roles as adults and begin preparation as children foregoing toys, games and play time.
Falaha is a Danna Commander Trainee on a rescue mission. The Danna are an ancient humanoid race with great powers. There are those who would destroy the Danna. The remnants of the race are on a journey to Kan Diona which could be their salvation or ruin. Along the journey they ignore protocol and answer a distress call only to have the ship invaded and taken over by an unknown enemy. Much of the crew has been set adrift on a disabled ship. Those that are left face certain death.
Descent is a unique, fast paced science fiction read. I enjoyed peeling back the layers of the complex plot. "Descent" by Jeno Marz is sure to become a fan favorite. I quickly bonded with the characters and look forward to reading more about them in the next installments. I can easily see the author extending this series past the first three books.
