Dawn of Oppression: America's Last Days by D.I. Telbat is book two in the Christian apocalyptic adventure trilogy, The Last Dawn, preceded by book one, Dawn of Affliction. The story picks up where Affliction left off, but much of the backstory is provided within the narrative, making Oppression just fine to read on its own. Life in America has been shattered by plague and an uprising of an ultra-liberal leadership forces Christians to go underground in a battle to allow them to rise once again. Gender neutrality is doggedly enforced, the Bible and Christianity are banned, and all who refuse to conform to Federation laws pay with their lives. Still, an entire movement code-named Operation Esther pushes the remaining Christians forward, powered by faith as they infiltrate enemy lines and fight for the glory of God.
There is a whole lot going on in D.I. Telbat's Dawn of Oppression: America's Last Days. The cast of characters is extensive and varied with regard to their strengths and personalities. Jenna is a standout, a courageous blind woman who steps forward in one of the most dangerous roles within and beyond the resistance. She is the daughter of a deceased leader and really does relish the role of possible martyrdom for the cause. The book leaves no doubt about it being Christ-driven and the reliance on biblical texts and scripture features heavily on every page. From a literary standpoint, the writing is well done, tight, and narrated to a high standard. I think this book and the trilogy as a whole will resonate strongly with readers of this genre.
