In simple terms, Kathleen explains what data is, and how to collect, interpret, and use it. Data is a collection of information that helps one make an informed decision. This information can be in the form of numbers, words, sounds, and even pictures. There are several methods to gather the information that will help with decision-making. It is essential to be sure your data represents the whole group. One can visualize data using different charts: tally, pie, bar, and scatter plots. Kathleen explains data thoroughly so your child can become an expert.
Kathleen Yu uses simple comparisons to help children understand data in Data Literacy for Kids. One example of making data understandable for children is comparing it to jigsaw puzzle pieces. To add to the enjoyment of reading this book and learning about data are wonderful and colorful illustrations. Kathleen's illustrations bring life to the book’s words. Children will enjoy reading this book and seeing the images that represent the words. Computers are the art of everyday life, and the need to understand what data is will help your child succeed in any career field they choose. I highly recommend you buy this book and have conversations with your child about its foundation. Overall, this is an excellent children’s book that makes learning enjoyable.
