When Olivia and Joel Cameron invited their family to spend the weekend at their new country home, little did they know that it would be twelve long years later before they would host the family again. Joel’s wild and sexy brother Scott was found dead, tearing the family apart. Now twelve years later, persuaded by her sister, Olivia finds herself hosting the family again. A good thing to happen? Violet is still grieving over the man she loved, and is determined to uncover the truth behind his death. Will the Cameron family be able to withstand the secrets, lies and deceptions that happened so long ago but uncovered now? Wow, this family is something else! Was anyone ever nice to anyone? With all of the snide remarks, sarcasm, rudeness, lies, dishonesty, threats, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to them. And when secrets started surfacing, things got even worse. Was Scott’s death twelve years earlier really an accident?
Jessica Chambers is a wonderful storyteller and writes a story with quirky characters in a situation that will keep you reading to find out what will happen, how and to whom, by the time this family reunion ends. After everything comes to surface, all I could think of was “Be sure your sins will find you out!” This is like a dysfunctional family with a severe twist. They were dysfunctional because of the deception and determination to gain, at anyone’s expense, even family's. I do have to add that I am surely glad I am not in a family such as this! If you enjoy whodunit murders, this is a book for you to read. Once you start reading, wondering just what really happened to Scott Cameron will drive you to the last page.
