Damning the Dead: Book 3 of the Dead Series is a modern-day fantasy/supernatural book by Kerry Blaisdell. Hyacinth Finch, a former graverobber, now works for the archangel Michael as a sorter. She decides who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. It’s a rather straightforward task but she now finds herself leading an army of the dead against Satan's demons and an opposing army of resurrected Nazis. Her life, or more accurately, her unlife has become quite complicated as a result, and to add to her already long list of priorities, her nephew Geordi’s abilities are beginning to attract unwanted attention from very unpleasant individuals. So, Hyacinth has to somehow cast the demons back to their warm and cozy home, defeat an army of the dead whilst maintaining order in her army, And she has to protect her nephew. One goal that comes first, however, is retrieving/stealing special rocks that contain either Satan's power or Michael's, as Satan plans to use the power sealed within to liberate himself from the clutches of hell. Will Hyacinth complete her to-do list in a reasonable timeframe? Or will Satan succeed and unleash his wrath on the Earth?

To say that Damning the Dead: Book 3 of the Dead Series was hard to put down would be an understatement as this book demanded my attention during its entire duration. There was always something new and exciting going on, be it plot twists or a new locale to keep things fresh and interesting. A wealth of new and varied content tends to present readers with information overload. Somehow (by some form of sorcery most likely), Kerry Blaisdell has filled this book to the brim with content without making me feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume. Another great thing is that it all belongs and wasn't simply filler content meant to bridge the gap between monumental scenes. I was also pleased with the unique lore, and this book didn't feel like the typical angels vs Satan type of book as a result. When reading, I want to connect with the characters and Kerry Blaisdell's characters were relatable and as organic or lifelike as a real person! Hyacinth was my favorite as I prefer characters that have weaknesses or flaws as opposed to invincible killing machines. I'd recommend this incredible book to readers that enjoy the supernatural genre. Readers that watch tv series with supernatural elements are sure to love this one!
