From the outside, Aldon seems to live a quiet life, going about his business like every normal person, but he is plagued by a disturbing nightmare that ends in the same way. When he comes upon a site of carnage left by a god, while returning from a business trip with his friend, he is not only disturbed but is aware that something more sinister is on the way, something linked to his past. He rescues a survivor from the gory scene, a young man who seems to heal faster than any normal human being and whose presence in his house gets him worried because of the way the young boy looks at Amira, his daughter. When the secrets of his buried past begin to catch up with him, he finds himself on the run with a motley group of friends. His hopes are in a mysterious, magical book, the grimoire with no pages. Can he beat what is headed towards him?
D.R.E.A.M. - What We Do At Night is a well-paced, beautifully written story that will appeal to fans of epic fantasy. There are so many powerful forces at play in this novel and, apart from the human characters, there are extraordinary beings that influence the lives of humans. D.R.E.A.M. - What We Do At Night has a well-crafted world and readers will adore the way the author explores the dark energies in this novel. The author allows the elements of this world to come out beautifully, describing activities in a village where people are curious about news from the fort, news they get from travelers. The characters are memorable, from Aldon to the supporting cast like Grsk, Toli, Trow, Felix, and Amira. These characters are genuinely flawed and believable and I loved the way they behave in moments of danger and attacks from the enemy. The plot is clever and the suspense transforms it into a page-turner. Charles Quaas is a great storyteller who knows what it takes to keep readers turning the pages — strong writing, unforgettable characters, a suspenseful plot, and a good dose of humor. And there is also magic, which makes it even more exciting.
