Crimson Winter: All is Fair in Love and War is a work of fiction in the crime and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to mature adult readers and was penned by author K. Adams. In this tense tale filled with chills and thrills, we follow the story of Lucy Wang, a Chinese woman in her forties, who finds her life suddenly falling apart when she discovers that her husband Patrick is having an affair. What follows is a dangerous quest that takes her back to her heritage as she seeks revenge, solace, and transformation, but Lucy will have to risk all that she is and all that she used to be in order to achieve it.
Author K. Adams knows how to keep readers in suspense, and this is a novel that packs in the drama from start to finish. It is a fast-paced and concise read that allows each dramatic scene to flow well. Adams doesn’t skimp on the background detail as he explores Chinese culture and the perspectives that Lucy adopts as she swings her viewpoint on infidelity are truly fascinating. I can honestly say I have never read anything like this book, and fans of interpersonal drama, crime, and suspense fiction are certain to be transfixed the deeper they get into the plot. I also felt that the dialogue was superbly well crafted, particularly around Lucy as she questions the journey that brings her to the brink of total transformation. Overall, Crimson Winter is a powerful and gripping suspense tale that mature readers everywhere will be sure to enjoy.
