Copper Waters is the fourth book in the Annalisse Series by Marlene M. Bell. After failing to convince her boyfriend, Alec Zavos, to take a paternity test to discover whether claims by his ex-wife are valid, antiquities expert Annalisse Drury (Anna) comes across a clue that may lead to her missing biological mother, Kate. Searching for answers, Anna travels across the globe to New Zealand, followed closely by private investigator Bill Drake. Anna's and Bill's arrival in the small town of Temuka is off to a rough start when the man who picked them up from the airport suffers a horrifying death. After a second unexpected death of a man in Woolcombe Station, Anna and Bill unwittingly become entangled in an investigation with far-reaching consequences. They soon learn that small-town secrets are not so easily revealed.
If you are a fan of cozy murder mysteries, Copper Waters is a book you should not miss. Author Marlene M. Bell weaves a tantalizing whodunit mystery full of twists and turns that make it hard to resist reading in one sitting. Moving at a brisk pace, the plot is filled with mystery, intrigue, and plenty of unexpected revelations you do not see coming. The characters have well-fleshed-out back stories that give authenticity to their actions and motives. Annalisse has an inquisitive personality and is determined to get to the bottom of any mystery she comes across. It makes her the perfect heroine. This is an entertaining read from start to finish.
