The life of a soldier is never easy. They put their lives on the line in the interests of national security, so that their fellow-men may continue to live free. There is a certain truth to the adage that old soldiers never die, they simply fade away. Alfred Adams has done his service to his country, and he won’t be fading away anytime soon. Conspiracy is a colorful autobiography where he gives us an unnerving picture of his experiences as a man in uniform and as a civilian. His brush with the Federal Aviation Administration illustrates the harrowing thanks that he got in pursuit of rectifying the FAA’s incompetence that caused fatalities. But a soldier like Mr. Adams is no pushover. He knows what to give those who step on his foot.
This is a powerful and unapologetic story which Mr. Adams tell from the tragic backdrop of losing people that he loved. The personal access he gives his readers and the eloquence in speaking about his realities leave us wondering: How much are we willing to submit ourselves to the strain of seeking justice against figures that wield more power and influence? For readers like us, something in Mr. Adams’ experience strikes our being to the core. Conspiracy is straightforward and brave. Mr. Adams does not expect accolades or recognition, but he does aim for creating awareness. Given that he has taken different paths to get to where he is now, there is always something valuable in reading about a life that has squarely faced challenges.
