Catherine Carnegie is an accomplished young woman with her own art gallery in the city of Eufaula, Alabama. However, Catherine's quiet life gets thrown into a tailspin when a man named Frank Adams recruits her for the CIA, and she is plunged into the murky world of espionage. As part of her assignment, Catherine is instructed to get close to a Saudi Royal named Farid and monitor his movements. But her mission gets more and more complicated as time passes, and she falls head over heels for her mark. Catherine must now choose between being loyal to the organization and the love she has for Farid. Filled with suspense and drama, Confessions of an Assassin is a thrilling tale of love and deceit by Linda Heavner Gerald.
Confessions of an Assassin is, first and foremost, the story of an artist turned spy who is torn between her feelings for a man and the duty she feels to her country. Linda Heavner Gerald keeps the plot moving at a steady pace, with Catherine and Farid's love story driving the narrative. The characters are likable with well thought out backstories to make them relatable. I found the premise of the book to be particularly compelling, and the plot had enough intrigue in it to keep me invested in the story. I think readers who enjoy espionage novels with a romance subplot will find Confessions of an Assassin to be especially entertaining. I enjoyed my time devouring the book, and I would recommend it to readers of spy and romance novels.
