Collegiate by AP Clariot is a chilling YA horror story set in the eerie halls of Buchner Collegiate, a high school shrouded in mystery and malevolence. Students are vanishing, their fates unknown, as dark forces lurk in every corner. Sophomore Jason Thomas is largely unaffected by the chaos, more focused on evading his abusive father and surviving another mundane school day. But when popular girl Robin Montcalm invites him into her world, Jason's lonely existence takes a sharp turn. As supernatural occurrences mount and their friendship deepens, Jason and Robin find themselves entangled in a sinister plot that threatens not just their lives, but their very souls. With no way out, they must confront the terrifying truth behind Buchner Collegiate's haunted past and the evil that resides there.

From the gripping opening chapter, Collegiate immediately hooks readers. The first pages introduce a bleak, unsettling atmosphere that perfectly sets the tone for the horror to come. Jason’s world is painted in shades of gray—his struggles with isolation, neglect, and a crushing sense of insignificance are vividly portrayed, making him a compelling protagonist readers will root for. The juxtaposition of mundane teenage experiences with the looming supernatural horror creates a slow-building tension that keeps the reader on edge. AP Clariot’s pacing is masterful, with each twist pushing Jason and Robin deeper into the heart of the nightmare. The characters are well-developed, especially Jason, whose evolution from a passive, invisible boy to someone fighting for survival is both relatable and satisfying. Fans of horror and suspense will appreciate the way Collegiate weaves personal trauma and supernatural terror into a narrative that is as emotionally resonant as it is terrifying.
