Clueless In Cleveland by Nelle Lewis is an entertaining and delightful sleuth mystery. After her father's death, Samantha has come home to Cleveland to support her mother. Sam's brother, Paul, is a private investigator and has given her a job in his office while she is in town. A walk-in client, Jerome Pentley, asks Paul and Sam to locate his wife, Tracy, who has been missing for a week. During their investigation, Paul and Sam cross paths with Johnny, Paul's best friend, and Sam's disappointing unfinished history. Johnny is also an investigator, and his client is Tracy, the wife of Paul's client. Shortly before Tracy disappeared, she hired Johnny to find out if Jerome was having an affair. Sam, Paul, and Johnny pool their resources and unofficially join forces with Roman, a friend and a police officer working on Tracy's missing person case.
Tracy isn't the first wife that Jerome has lost. She is Jerome's second wife. Jerome's first wife died under suspicious circumstances. Did he do away with his first wife and has he tried it again? Sam inadvertently tracks down the woman that Jerome is having an affair with, but she disappears before anyone can speak to her. Suspiciously, Jerome also turns up missing and can't be found for questioning. Has Jerome committed murder and done away with Tracy and his lover? Or is something more sinister going on? Paul has left Sam alone with Johnny to do the legwork and find the answers. Can Sam get past Johnny's and her history and keep from bungling her first investigative assignment?
Clueless In Cleveland by Nelle Lewis is a spectacular cozy mystery laced with humor. It has the same amusing overtones that accompany a Stephanie Plum novel. All of the characters are fantastic. I loved Sam's spunky character and her clumsy approach to every situation. Her character is lovable and easy to relate to. Her opinions of her family and life, in general, are not only humorous but downright funny. This book kept me in stitches all the way through, as Sam blunders her way through the investigation and her relationships with Johnny and her family. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Sam is a great character, and I am thrilled that this book is the first in a series. I am so looking forward to reading more of Sam's exploits. I could not put this book down once I had picked it up and recommend it to those who enjoy cozy mysteries with a tongue-in-cheek twist. Great work!
