Cleo McCarthy knows time is not on her side. She has been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease which gives her barely enough time to enjoy her final lucid days before the memories vanish. Just when she has resigned herself to her fate, she discovers a unique gift that had been hidden in her all along. It turns out she can travel through time without aging or being affected by her ailment. Cleo sees this as the perfect opportunity to set right everything she has always wanted to fix about herself. With some well-timed assistance, she immediately dives into it. As with all gifts, this one comes with an unusual caveat which Cleo is about to discover in Michael Poeltl's Cleo McCarthy: Time Travel And Other Impossible Things.
Michael Poeltl takes us on a romantic journey of discovery as we explore the peculiarities behind the aspect of physics we call time travel. His storyline of a dying Cleo is certain to tug at the reader's heartstrings but will probably compete with the excitement that comes from her exploring the unique gift she has been granted. The scientific discussions between Bobby and his colleagues are quite extensive and even more detailed than I was expecting but Poeltl still manages to present it to the reader from the viewpoint of a curious Cleo. This adds a certain degree of mystery to this tale. The best part of this beautiful story is following Cleo's transition as she discovers her true purpose in this story. Poeltl's ability to weave romance, mystery, and pure science fiction-based subplots into one riveting adventure is what makes Cleo McCarthy: Time Travel And Other Impossible Things a one-of-a-kind reading experience.
